A Ghostly Love Story

It was the smell of sweet fragrant Ye Lai Xiang scent that made my nephew noticed her at the library.Alvin first noticed her as she passed by his table to sit at the far end of the library. She smelled so nice, thought Alvin. She must have spent a fortune on perfumes.

She has been coming to the library on her own for the past two evenings. So he noticed. He had occasionally stole glances at the pretty young long-haired girl. He had made up his mind to introduce himself to her and get her phone number that very evening. It is a ‘do-or-die’ mission. He smiled to himself.

And there it is again! That wonderful sweet scent. Here she comes. Alvin looked up and his eyes met hers. She gave him a shy half-smile and he smiled broadly in return. Go for it, his heart told him.

“Hi,err.. would you like to sit here?” Alvin could not believe he was saying this. “I saw you have an interest in gardening. I am a Botany student and i wonder if we could talk about flowers.”

It was a silly ice-breaker but it worked! She smiled and sat in front of him.

“Yes, i like flowers, especially the scented ones. How did you know?” she asked.

“Ah, i always see you holding books on this subject.” winked Alvin. He was trying hard to think of the next few pickup lines to say.

“Botany must be a very interesting subject.” she said.

Alvin tried hard not to look at her beautiful hazel eyes and her delicate lips. She was an amazingly pretty girl. He wondered why no guys accompanied her to the library. Perhaps she had not a boyfriend.

They had a wonderful time chatting and laughing for the next two hours. Fortunately, there were usually not many people in the library at this hour. They did not disturb anyone.

Finally it was time for her to go home.

Alvin, i need to go.”

“No, wait. Do you have a FaceSpace or NSM? or Yohaa ?”

“No.”

“Do you have an address?”

“Why?”
“I want to see your garden.”

she was pleased. She told him her address and her name was Britney Chong.

She did not come to the library the next few days and he kind of missed her. Alvin thought he was in love. He could not stop thinking about her.

Finally, he decided to pay her a visit the next morning. He reached a nice double-story bungalow in the pricey part of the city. He pressed the bell and an old woman answered the door.

“May i speak to Britney Chong please? She gave me this address a few days ago.”

The woman started to cry and an old man , came to the door.

“What do you want? Why did you make my wife cry?” He asked harshly.

“I.. I… was asking for Britney. I saw her in the library a few days ago but she didn’t turned up the past few days..i just wondered what had happened to her.” Alvin stammered.

The old man’s face turned pale and then he became angry.

“Young man, i don’t know who put you up to play such a cruel joke on my wife. Britney our daughter died one year ago!”

Alvin’s mouth went agape and his heart sank. The door was slammed on his face. His mind went blank.

That evening he went to the library and asked about Britney Chong. The old librarian typed something into her computer.

“Ah, a pretty little girl. But what a pity. She jump off this seven story building about one year ago. Right from that window over there.” She pointed to the window at the far end of the library.

Alvin was speechless and he sat down trying to regain his composure. At that instance, Alvin smelled fragrances…

My Little Sister

Here goes the story about my lovely little sister
This happen to me when i’m 14 years old………I have a little sister. It happen to her when she is only 7 years old……………….My sister likes to go over to her friend house to play. She would ride her bicycle to her friend house. Then one day, she came back late. My mother was so worried. My sister actually did not realise the time and when she looked at her watch and found out that it was 7 p.m., she quickly rode her bicycle. Instead of going the long way, she decided to take shortcut which is to ride on the cemetery.
When she reached home, my mum scolded her for coming home late. Then my sister just go to her room and locked herself in her room. It so weird of her to do that. When i walked past her room, i heard a chinese man voice. I told my mum about it. My mum enter her room. My sister just sat there like a statue. I was scared to see her like that.
Suddenly……..she talked in mandarin……i was shocked as our family is malay and how come she can talked in chinese……Not just that. Her soft voice turns to be a man voice. My mum told my father about it. My father called his friend(a bomoh) to help him. His friend come to our house.
After he had arrived, he went to my sister room and told us to get out of the room. So my mum closed the door behind us. We heard a man voice were screaming….then my father friend open the door and tell us that a chinese man spirit had entered my sister body and he would not leave the body. He also told us that my sister may die because my sister had not been eating. The spirit wants to starve her to death. My mum cried….She was so worried…The bomoh say that he could not do anything becoz the spirit are so strong……
The next morning, i found my sister dead on her bed….I was so sad that i cried…..My mum too cried. I could not believe it. The spirit is so cruel. She is just 7 years old little kid……..After my sister death, we moved house as we knew that the spirit is still in the house…Thats the end of my stories…………
Hope my sister soul rest in peace. - Farah

The Funeral

I actually heard this story from my cousin-in-law during my grandfather’s funeral about two years ago. However before I continue I would just like to share an incident which happened during my grandfather’s funeral. As I am a Chinese , you know how we have quite a complicated funeral ritual.

The Chinese believe that the dead person’s spirit actually linger around at his or her own funeral until the process is finished. I am poorly informed of such complex things but what happened on the last few days of my frandfather’s funeral was that there was this priest who scattered ashes on the floor.Apparently the ashes was meant to have human footprints or animal footprints. If a human footprint appears it would mean that the dead person will be incarnated as a human in his or her next life.If it was an animal’s footprint then the person will become an animal.

Well , what happened was freaky because after the ashes was being scattered a few seconds later footprints appeared on the ashes. My grandmother told me that it belonged to my late grandfather. That was really freaky.

Another story which pulls more weight in terms of paranormality was told by my cousin-in-law.
One morning at about 3am her friend was at home sleeping and was awaken by someone knocking on her apartment door. She got up and opened the door but there was no one there. However as soon as she closed the door , she heard her father calling her to open the door. She thought it was just her imaginations getting to her as she had just awaken and was still rather sleepy. She opened the door again and there was no one there. After about half an hour , she went back to bed trying to fall asleep again , the phone rang.

She was informed that her father was involved in a motor vehicle accident and had passed away. He died at about 2 am.She told her relatives about this incident during her father’s funeral and they said that it was his spirit wanting to go home. When someone dies , his or her spirit is unaware of what is happening and will carry on normal life for a short period of time until they find out that they are actually dead. SHe did not want to believe it at first but she recalled that the time the knockings was at about 3 am but her father was already dead by about 2am.There was an hour lapse. How could it be?

Strange In My House

When I first moved to my present home, we got three Fengshui master to view our flat. I was in my teens then. All three told my parents that only I can sleep in a certain room. My elder sister cannot sleep in that room…
So we moved in and I got my own room. My sister tried to sleep with me as we had a very close relationship. She came over for two times and both times was horrible for her. She dreamt of those things chasing after her. And worst is that she cannot wake up. 2nd time, she couldn’t fall asleep no matter how tired she is. From then on, she dare not to come to my room to sleep. According to the fengshui master, only males and people strong in Yang Qi can sleep in that room as the room is very Yin….

Then we have a hi fi set in the living room that I used to watch VCDs. Every night, without fail, at about 12 to 1am, it will switch on by itself and start playing whatever VCD it has inside it, if not, it will play the radio. That was those old type so no timer. Then my sister’s EX bought us a dog. A black dog. After she came, it only happened for the first night and after she barked and I came out to switch it off, it never happened again.
My sister told me that once, when we were all overseas, my sister did not go due to her A levels While she is busy studying in the room with our dog, she felt very creepy hairs standing then our dog suddenly barked very fiercely at the door of the room, as if stopping somebody or something from coming in.

No matter what my sister did, the dog totally ignored her and continued to bark then suddenly, she stopped barking and just walked over to my sister and stand guard beside her. - anonymus

The Haunted Apartment

The story is about a haunted apartment in Australia, Brisbane. I studied overseas in Brisbane for 3 years. But this story is not about me, it’s about my housemate Jolin who stayed in this apartment for a few months before she moved to my house. As her story is very long with many incidents, I will just shorten it with a few significant incidents that happened to her.

I have been to the apartment myself, together with my buddy Adrian (not his real name). We were given the keys to the house to the apartment to move some furniture. The apartment is an old 2 story Queenslander apartment with the kitchen and living room on the first floor and 3 bedrooms on the 2 nd floor.

Went we went in, we immediately felt weird. The air was stale and the apartment was extremely messy with things strewn all over the place. It was dark and had cobwebs over the doors. Both Adrian and I wondered how a place occupied by 3 ladies could be so messy. Later on we found out from Jolin (not her real name) that the house was actually occupied by a family of ghosts, and every time they went to school and came back they found the house in a total mess. After awhile they gave up packing the house and left it to be messy.

Some spooky incidents Jolin told us:

They could often hear footsteps of people running about on level 2 when they were watching TV on the first level. But there was no one else in the house other than them!
They often feel as though someone is watching them behind their back when they are alone. Jolin felt this while she was bathing one night. Immediately she took a bible and placed it in the bathroom with her. After her bath she found greenish slime on her bible.

One night while returning home from school together, Jolin noticed a black shadow by the side of the lamp post. It was darting from lamppost to lamppost at amazing speeds while they were walking home as though it was following them. When they reached the apartment, Jolin saw the black shadow fly up instantly to their apartment, which was 3 stories up!

The gals were scared and often slept together in 1 room. One night Jolin could not sleep, but her 2 friends were fast asleep. She suddenly saw the room door open by itself. She pretended to be asleep. She then heard her friend mumble words in her sleep like “Help me”, “Don’t touch me”. After awhile, her friend stopped mumbling those words, and she saw the door open and close by itself again as though someone was leaving.

The 3 girls knew something was in the house with them and had a discussion in the living room as to whether they should move out. Jolin was then very angry and being the brave woman she is, she shouted out “I refuse to believe in things that I can’t see!” That night, Jolin had to go into her room in level 2 to get her mobile phone. She did not bother to turn on the lights when entering. She saw something that she will not forget for the rest of her life. She saw a very scary looking human head floating in the room staring at her. She did not describe the exact details of the head to us as she did not want to remember it herself. After she saw it, she turned around and calmly walked away saying “Ok, I believe”.

Spirits At Funeral

This happened to my elder sister at my grandpa’s funeral few years back. My elder sister who is born with so called “ying yang” eyes but as time goes by it got working lesser and lesser. But she told my mum that. At my grandpa’s funeral she could see my grandpa’s spirit floating on top of my grandpa’s coffin. As my 2nd elder sis is afraid of such things, she never raised it up and only secretly told my mum. My mum after a few months told us.
The next story also happened to my elder sister. It happened like 10 years back. When i was still in primary sch, we were moving house to our current new house. As most people would when moving house, we were busy moving and packing stuff from our house. So the house is a lot emptier den usual. But we didn’t move into the house yet because of the “ji shi a.k.a auspicious timing”
She was packing half way and she noticed that there’s this dark shadow in the middle of the room. She went on to take a closer look and found that the dark shadow started to move fast in the room. She panicked, and finally the shadow stopped behind the door… i dunno y , but she went on to pull open the door. And just then she saw a face ZOOOOM out behind the door right at her face den n disappear.
After that, she told my mum who took her to “wen shen , ask god” what happened. But as usual they would say luck is low and stuff. She have a lot of experience but lets save some for next time. By- lisa

Angel In A Cemetery

There was a muslim cemetery in Malaysia, seremban or better known as Negeri Sembilan. This incident happened to my mum. This cemetery is `special` because it was the resting place of many holy man and woman. Hence the villagers build a small mosque at the heart of the cemetery. 2 years ago my father received a call telling him that one of his friend there had just passed away on that day.Immediately he left for Seremban wih my mum and a couple of his friend. They depart from Singapore at about 4pm, thus reaching there at around 9pm by car.
The place there was extremely calm for a cemetery. In fact it was peaceful as described by my mum. Suddenly she heard a very loud man voice singing the “bang” (the bang is the song in Arab calling the muslim to pray). It was sung in the most beautiful voice and it was neither scary or eerie. In fact she feel happy and peaceful. My mum thought it was the prayer time, Ishak,(which happen around 8pm.) for the muslim and thought it came from the small mosque.
She then asked my father to get ready for prayer but he replied that ishak was over. She was stunned.
She asked him if he had heard the “bang” and he replied no.His other friends also say they did not hear the “bang”. So you see not all cemetery is haunted. In fact there was several incident whereby some villagers say they saw a man in the mosque on some nights either reading the holy Quran or praying. This is not possible as the mosque was locked every night. In other encounter the keeper once say he saw 4 women in the religious malay tudung(scarf). He also described them as very beautiful beyond words. He say he have never saw the ladies in the nearby village before. In fact he say there was a certain unique glow coming out of them. They were also sitting there praying. Perhaps it was the angels from heaven.

Lost Child

This story happened to my sister, Ani (name changed) on her second week in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
It was almost 11:30 PM. Ani just came out of her last evening class and was waiting for her friend to pick her up. A strong breeze came by and Ani had a chilling feeling, not so much of cold but rather a sense of fear. After all, it was dark and she was all alone. A short moment later, she heard someone whistling from far. She looked around her and began to feel frightened. There was nobody anywhere and she tried to convince herself it was just the guard.
Ani was thankful when her friend showed up seconds later. She rushed into the car and before she got into the car, she saw a pair of white socks at the back of the car. Immediately, she asked if her friend hard accidentally left a pair of socks outside the car but her friend looked puzzled and said no. Ani turned around but the socks were no longer there. Ani was very optimistic the socks were there in the first place. So, she asked her friend to stop the car and go out to check.
When the car stopped, Ani heard the whistling again. Her friend went out for a short while and dashed back into the car in a state of shock. Without a word, she sped off the area. Ani kept asking what happened but her friend refused to say a word until they are out of the campus.
Ani’s friend said when she went out of the car, she felt an unusual chill outside. Then, she saw a naked boy lying behind the car. He was very young, but he looked inhumanly pale. She asked the boy what he was doing there at this hour. The boy stared at her with pitiful eyes and said, “Are you the lady who took my soul and turned me into a ghost at this forest?”
It suddenly occurred to her that the boy is not a human being at all. She ran back into the car and sped off.
When Ani told her about the whistling, she said she didn’t hear anything. However she did hear some noises behind the trees by the roadside.
Ani went to the library the next morning and searched for any book that could explain what happened on the previous night. She found an article in a book which claimed that there was a little boy who was captured by a witch and the witch took his soul while whistling like a mad man. Many claimed to have seen the boy running away from the witch while some heard whistling sound, apparently, the sound of the witch looking for the boy.

A Mystery Man

It happened to me and two of my colleagues from Singapore in April 1988 at the carpark of an office building in KL. We were working at an exhibition in PWTC and decided to go to a fast-food restaurant at that office building basement for dinner one evening. I drove and parked in the underground car park. After eating, around 9-ish, we couldn’t get out as all the exit barriers were down and unattended.
After rounding for a while and getting worried (that time no cell phones) we saw a black Volvo coming down a ramp and drove towards it. We were so relieved. The guy came out of his car and after telling him about our predicament, he offered me his access card, and said he will follow me out to get it back. I reached out to take it but my colleague who is Muslim grabbed my hand and shouted at me to not take it. The man stepped away and went back to his car. My colleague’s face was totally white as I and our other colleague argued with her. We then watched the man got into his car and drove straight into the wall in front of us! The colleague in the back seat screamed and fainted. The colleague who warned me said her prayers. I must have screamed as well and had an accident in my pants.
I can’t remember how long it took me to recover from shock but we finally found a guard who let us out. The colleague who fainted was ill for two weeks and never came back to the exhibition. All 3 of us never discussed the incident, not once. Till today, I don’t know how my colleague knew and don’t want to ask.
When I got around to sharing the experience about 10 years later, some say the guy may have been a spirit guarding the place. Who really knows. I have never been back to that building. Stay away from Volvo cars and still get the creeps when I see a black one.

Acupuncture in Stroke Treatment

Acupuncture therapy for stroke-caused conditions such as paralysis, speech and swallowing problems, and depression is commonly used in the Orient. In China and Japan, an acupuncturist is likely to start therapy as soon as possible after a stroke. However, my recommendation is a delay of 2 weeks before acupuncture for strokes caused by bleeding in the brain, 10 to 20% of strokes (instead of the usual blood vessel block or clot). The wait is due to studies showing that acupuncture opens blood vessels for better flow and decreases clotting and inflammation. These effects are desired early when arteries are blocked, but after a stroke caused by bleeding has occurred, it is safer to wait until the bleeding blood vessel has clotted and is unlikely to bleed further before providing the acupuncture.
Acupuncture is done on a daily basis in China. Uncertain as to whether daily acupuncture is essential, even in Western countries, some acupuncturists with experience in treating stroke with acupuncture believe treatment 3 times a week is optimal. Several different approaches have been used to treat stroke, demonstrating that acupuncture for this disorder remains a healthcare art: Traditional Chinese Yang meridian point therapy, Chinese scalp acupuncture,
Dr. Yamamoto's YNSA Japanese scalp therapy, Korean Koryo Chim hand acupuncture, supplemental ear (auricular) acupuncture, and Xingnao KaiQiao (a newer therapy by Professor Shi Xuemin) are each advocated by a number of treatment centers in Oriental countries. One need not know in depth the approach of each, but it is important to know that more than one approach is available and used.
Does acupuncture really work to help stroke victims improve? Many studies involving thousands of patients have been published in China and Japan, and 2 of 3 studies from Scandinavia, demonstrated significant help. These studies indicate that patients get well faster, perform better in self-care, require less nursing and rehabilitation therapy, and use less healthcare dollars. However, since most studies come from China, they get little credence from the Western medical community because researchers in China do not appear to be published unless their results are highly positive, so publication bias is possible. And, no money has been made available in the United States for studies needed to confirm the claims of experts in China and Japan of indeed helping stroke patients. Such studies, if done well, demand significant funding; sources of such money are difficult to find. Most physicians, including rehabilitation experts, have appeared unwilling to consider acupuncture therapy, not due to bias but because the published studies do not necessarily meet research study criteria for the United States.
Acupuncture is a safe therapy, and my experience has taught that this is especially true when helping stroke victims. Even discomfort is generally minimal. If one compares the possible positive help to be obtained with the risks associated with acupuncture, my contention is that acupuncture is worthy to attempt for stroke therapy. Studies are needed in the United States to prove this to medical skeptics. It will be important for such studies to involve skilled acupuncturists with experience in stroke therapy.
Adding acupuncture to rehabilitation therapy obviously increases the cost; daily-to-3 times-weekly treatment is needed for 2-4 weeks or longer. Concern for added cost would perhaps disappear if the end result demonstrates more self-care and less dependence on family and health providers.

Ayurvedic Treatment

Advantages

  • It is preventive, protective, health primitive and curative in nature. At the same time herbal remedies are self contained, and nutritive rendering them harmless and non toxic. This provides a constructive approach against destructive forces.

  • Ayurveda is not man made but is believed to be divine gift. It is for us to study, seek, search and take the benefits from the treasure of knowledge.

  • Ayurveda is mainly based on herbs, plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and all vegetation that grows around us in plenty. It is our native system based on the peculiar indian conditions. Further whatever is available on our own country is bound to be more suitable in creating good health to us rather than borrowed knowledge as well as materials. Charaka samhita stresses the same point.

  • Ayurveda begins when everything fails and when the treatment is uncertain and prolonged, ayurvedic approach is the right choice since it cures chronic and stubborn diseases by its deep-rooted treatment procedures and drugs.
